Rimrock Overlook

A series of wooden steps lead to a scenic viewing area atop a large rock face overlooking the Kinzua arm of the Allegheny Reservior. A stairwell hewn through the rock face takes the mildly adventurous sightseer to the bottom of the rock for further exploring. This area is spectacular for fall foliage viewing.

*Located 15 miles east of the city of Warren on Forest Rd. 454, 2 miles from the function of St. Rt. 59 and FR 454*

Jakes Rocks Overlook

Located atop a steep and high cliff, visitors delight in the scenic view of the Allegheny Reservoir. Large rocks formations are scattered liberally throughout the area.

*Route 59 FR (Longhouse National Scenic Byway) first right off FR 262*

Tidioute Overlook

Here are excellent scenic views of several islands on the Allegheny Rive, including Courson Island (one of the islands of the Allegheny River Wilderness Islands), the River Valley Farms and Forested Allegheny. Another view overlooks the town of Tidioute.

Kinzua Bridge

The Kinzua Viaduct was once the highest bridge in the world. It was built by General Thomas Kane, in order to get Kane’s rich coal deposits in the south to his customers in the north. Then in July 2003, a tornado tore through the forest moving straight for the viaduct. The tornado uprooted hundreds of trees and 11 of the bridge’s 20 towers were thrown on the valley floor. Only 9 towers remained: 6 on the south end and 3 on the north end. The viaduct was reinvented into a scenic pedestrian walkway in 2011 and is now the Kinzua Sky Walk.

Bent Run Waterfall

Bent Run Waterfall is located just past the Kinzua Dam on Route 59. This hidden treasure is great for those who are looking for a scenic adventure. There are .4 miles of trails leading up to the top. It is recommended that you visit this spot right after a heavy rain when the waterfall is at its prime.

Hector Falls

This scenic waterfall is one of the most beautiful in the area. Hector Falls consists of a 22 foot tall block of sandstone on which Hector Run falls over, creating this eye opening sight. You can visit this waterfall by parking at a gate (41’41.71 2N, 78’58.845’W) and following the trail to the falls.
