Women Are Wonderful

February 8

Calling all women! The 19th Annual Women Are Wonderful event will be held
Saturday, February 8, 2020 at The Jefferson DeFrees Family Center, 207 Second
Avenue. The event is co-sponsored by the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center and the
Zonta Club of Warren. This popular event features workshops, speakers, a coffee/tea
bar, and luncheon. There will be make and take items, and door prizes.
Women Are Wonderful 2020 will feature many “back by popular demand”
presentations plus a variety of new classes. There will be a wide range of programs
offered, from wellness to do-it-yourself, painting to pizza making, Smart phone
photography and everything you wanted to know about Medicare and Health
Insurance; there is something for every woman!
Susan Toombs will share the secrets of staying young and active through a
healthy lifestyle and diet. Christine Dolan, Warren YMCA, will be presenting programs
on exercise, weight training and personal fitness. Rachel Tome will share the joy and
benefits of Chair Yoga. Tracy Passaro will be presenting programs on Mindfulness.
Always wanted to be a hula hooper, then you’ll want to attend Amanda Slagle, the
Vivacious Hoopster’s class.
For the crafter and painters, make and take classes by Netta Lindell of Ekey’s;
Debbie Bird, primitive painting on wood, and Kelly Hunt, Pine Grove Personal Paintings
acrylic on canvas or glass. These classes will require pre-registration at the time of
registration. This will ensure enough materials are available for participants.
Lowe’s will be on hand demonstrating the latest do-it-yourself home
improvement projects and techniques. Kelly Newton will answer your questions about
the benefits of CBD products. Gretchen Porier will be on hand to provide chair and
table massages throughout the day.
Doors will open at 8:15 so participants can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and
refreshments before the sessions begin. Sessions start at 9:00. Once the festivities are
underway, participants can choose the workshops they’d like to attend. Workshops are
rotated throughout the day so everyone can have an opportunity to participate in the
classes they like. A self-serve luncheon, provided by Catering Plus, along with a light,
refreshing dessert, will be available. There will be door prizes.
Registration for this year’s event begins January 13, and can be made at the
Jefferson DeFrees Family Center, 207 Second Avenue. A registration fee of $20.00
covers the cost of the event, lunch, coffee/tea/baked goods bar, and must be paid at
the time of registration. Registrations will not be taken the day of the event. There is
limited availability due to space constraints. For more information contact the
