Hiking
Located in the Cornplanter State Forest, Anders Run covers 96 acres and contains old growth specimens of white pine, hemlock, and hardwoods, some of which are 400 years old. The "Little Stone House in the Hollow," built in 1841 and once part of the formerly lavish Irvine-Newbold Estate is near the southern end.

Perfect for a leisurely walk with the kids and a dog or by yourself, the trail snakes on maintained gravel paths and through the woods along the quiet Brokenstraw Creek.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is a flat and easy walk through the woods, around many ponds, and through fields. Along the way are lookout towers, binoculars, decks, benches, and even a nature playground. The hiker is likely to encounter a variety of critters including otters and various bird species.

A popular camping location in the Allegheny National Forest, the Buckaloons is on the grounds of a former Native American village. The little Irvine Run trickles alongside the path and guides the hiker to the larger Brokenstraw Creek.

Chapman State Park is your one-stop spot for an outdoor experience any time of year with areas for swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, cycling, hiking, picnicking, and camping are at your fingertips. Trails take the hiker by streams, over bridges (including a swinging bridge), up and down hills, through various types of forests, and even on a story walk. Bring your camera!

One of the few remaining old-growth forests, Hearts Content is known for the 400-year-old white pines. While much of the area was once clear-cut, Hearts Content remained. Through the efforts of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the campground, picnic area, and pavilion brought the area back to life.

Ancient boulders and multiple overlooks that span for miles. What more could you ask for? Jakes Rocks is one of the area's most photographed locations and known for excellent mountain biking trails going over 35 miles. Trails at Jakes Rocks was named Pennsylvania's Trail of the Year in 2024!

A more serene hike there could not be. In late spring/early summer, Morrison Trail is fantastic for those looking for mountain laurel, Pennsylvania's state flower. Some parts of the trail are steep. The trail leads to the Allegheny Reservoir's Morrison Campground, one of the few campgrounds that are designed for boat access.

Take one short trail or all 6 to get the whole experience. Trails through the pines and hardwood forests take the hiker along the babbling Hatch Run and up to the top of the hill where there is a catch-and-release fishing pond. Hatch Run Conservation Demonstration Area is part of the Warren County Conservation District and is often used for educational activities.

Maintained to be a primitive trail, Hickory Creek Wilderness Trail affords the original wilderness experience. Trails twist and turn through the Allegheny National Forest and by large boulders.

Minister Creek is best left to the experienced hiker due to its steep and winding terrain. The trail is known for its stunning panoramic view at the beginning or end of the trail (depending on which way you go at the start). Large boulders and streams make for a fun adventure. Minister Creek connects with the North County National Scenic Trail.

Going all the way from North Dakota to Vermont, the North Country National Scenic Trail cuts through Warren County with many possible trailheads.

One of Warren County's most recognizable and iconic views is located at Rimrock. The stunning overlooks are but a short walk from the upper parking lot just off of Route 59. Those who venture farther down can experience the famous stone stairs between the ancient boulders and jaw-dropping views of towering rocks.

This hidden gem of a trail is a former rail line with multiple ponds, a creek, and a wide variety of wildlife. Evidence of beavers abounds with the trademark pencil-tipped bites, dams, and trails carved in the mud. A perfect, quite, easy walk.

Biking
This paved "Rails to Trails" runs along the scenic Conewango Creek and Route 62 between Warren and North Warren where the old DAV&P Railroad traveled and even has, along the way, the original train station, now converted to a restaurant. If one looks closely along the banks of the creek, you can see remnants of foundations from oil refineries from the days of the oil boom. This trail is short, easy, and popular with cyclists, walkers, joggers, and families out for a stroll.

Tanbark connects to Hearts Content and the North Country National Scenic Trail allowing for a long ride if desired.

Four miles of the Chapman State Park trails are groomed for X-C skiing. The trails connect to ski trails in the Allegheny National Forest and State Game Lands 29.
